Lock. Take. Hide.
Lock your vehicle. Take your keys. Hide your valuables. Nearly 100,000 vehicles are stolen in the state of Texas every year and law enforcement is using these words placed on signs all throughout the state to help citizens remember to protect their property.
With the incredibly high amount of robberies one would think that signs would not be needed to remind people to carefully watch over their belongings. But even with these signs plastered all over the state, many simply don’t take the time to guard what is theirs.
I have heard it said on many occasions when someone has their belongings taken from them…”I was careless.”

It is so hard to admit, but it is a fact of life that many tend to get careless with ‘things’ that become common. We purchase something and for the first few weeks it is treated with such care. We guard it. We make sure we know where it is. And we keep it clean because we are so proud it. But as time passes by, the newness wears off and we get careless.

Can you remember the moment when you were given a desire of your heart? It was new. It was fresh. It was protected.
But where does it stand now?
Have your belongings become common? Do we protect the gifts that we have been given by our creator? I don’t know of many who would not do everything they could to protect what they have been given if they knew danger was coming. The problem we have is we are not given the ability to see into the future.
It is really no excuse for us though for the words have been uttered by so many, “I should have seen the warning signs. I should have given more attention to detail.”

It is when the sacred things of our life begin to be treated carelessly that we lose sight of the warnings posted along the path.
Lock your eyes, your heart, and your soul so that nothing unlike Him can enter.
Understand that the keys of prayer and communication with God will unlock the door…you must hold on to that key at all cost.
Hide, when needed, in the shadow of His wings. Don’t be ashamed to back up and refocus your appreciation for what you have. If we are not careful, the enemy of our life will come in those moments to attack our weakness…so do not be afraid to hide out for a while under His care.

As you continue to walk the path made for you, do not allow yourself to become careless with your belongings. Keep things fresh and new, never allowing the sacredness of your relationship with Him to become common.
Lamentations 3:22-24 says, “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.
Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh (new) each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!” (NLT)
